The Nebraska volleyball community is mourning the untimely loss of Paige Laureen Hubl, a former standout athlete and beloved figure in Lincoln, Nebraska.

Hubl tragically passed away on November 24, 2026, at just 34 years old.

On November 28, 2026, Lincoln Arneal, a journalist who covers Nebraska volleyball for Huskers Illustrated, shared the news.

Tragic news as former Husker Paige Hubl passed away earlier this week.

She played for Nebraska between 2009-12 and was a co-captain her senior year. Hubl was a prep standout for Lincoln Southeast and later served as head coach for the Knights for four years.

Paige Hubl’s Volleyball Passion Began In High School, Leading Her To Become Co-Captain Of The Nebraska Huskers

Paige Hubl’s volleyball journey began at Lincoln Southeast High School, where she became a four-year starter as a libero.

During her senior year, she set school records with 513 digs and 75 service aces and earned second-team Super-State honors.

Her impressive skills also expanded to other sports—she was a first-team all-state soccer player and contributed to her high school basketball team’s state championship in 2008 and runner-up finish in 2009.

She continued her volleyball career with the from 2009 to 2012, where she excelled as a defensive and serving specialist.

In her senior year, Hubl was named the team’s co-captain. She played in all matches and recorded 67 digs (0.59 per set) and seven service aces.

Her collegiate career highlights included a career-high 15 digs against Duquesne and several pivotal performances during her junior season 2011.

Hubl graduated with a bachelor’s degree in May 2013, leaving a legacy of dedication and leadership.

After her playing career, Hubl returned to her roots, coaching at Lincoln Southeast High School from 2018 to 2026.

She inspired the next generation of athletes with her passion for the sport.

Paige Is Described As A Kind-Hearted And Free-Spirited Individual By Her Closed Ones

Paige’s sister also shared the news of her passing and posted on her Facebook, writing:

The world lost a beautiful soul. Broken are our hearts. I cry for the life you lived. And the life you didn’t. I’m not sure how to live in a world without you, Paige. But for now, safe in our hearts you’ll stay.
