Todd Bodden was an educator who coached basketball, football, and track for 34 years. Sadly, he passed away on April 9, 2026.
His sudden departure left a legacy of dedication, mentorship, and love for his family, students, and athletes. The tragic news deeply saddened his family and the Tenaha community.
For 17 years, he was a cornerstone of the Tenaha Independent School District, leaving a lasting impact as an educator and a mentor.
During his tenure, he also taught secondary mathematics. He retired from teaching and coaching after the 2026 school year, concluding a remarkable career in education.
He held his students and athletes to the highest standards, not because he demanded perfection, but because he believed in their potential.
He pushed them to work harder, dig deeper, and rise stronger in the classroom, on the field, or on the court, always with integrity and heart.
Yet beyond the tough love was a man who ensured every student knew they were valued, supported, and remembered long after graduation and his retirement.
Our school district and community are heartbroken by the tragic passing of Coach Todd Bodden. A dedicated educator, mentor, and coach, Coach Bodden spent 17 impactful years with us, shaping the lives of countless students with his tough love, honesty, and unwavering commitment to their success.
Our thoughts are with his loved ones during this incredibly difficult time. Rest easy, Coach. Your legacy lives on in every student you inspired.
Todd Bodden’s Family Mourns The Tragic Loss
Coach Todd Bodden was a passionate leader who devoted his career to shaping young lives on and off the field. He was a mentor, a role model, and a family.
The Tenaha community mourns the loss of a man who gave so much to others.
Todd was renowned for his constant commitment to his players and instilled in them the values of discipline, teamwork, and perseverance.
His impact extended far beyond wins and losses. He was a mentor who inspired countless students to strive for excellence in sports, academics, and life.
The overwhelming outpouring of love from former students, athletes, and colleagues says it all. He was more than a teacher or a coach.
Beyond his coaching career, Todd was a devoted family man, and his family was the center of his world. His loving wife, , two children, and extended family survive him.
Todd and Becky got married in September 2026. Becky, originally from Monroe, Louisiana, is a district life specialist and medicare specialist at Farmers Insurance of East Texas.
The Bodden family will soon announce his memorial service to honor his life and legacy.
Even though the cause of his untimely death is still unknown, the flood of affection and memories from those who knew him depicts a guy who lived life to the fullest and inspired others at every opportunity.
Coach Bodden. I keep reading the comments from your past students and fellow coworkers, I cry every time I read one. I thought back to all of the encouraging words that you shared with me as a coteacher at THS. You taught my son and I dreaded making that call on yesterday to inform him of your passing. He was as upset as I knew he would be and I was helpless to console him over the phone.
I do want to draw attention to your comments that I would see as our former students and coworkers moved on with their lives. One of your last posts that I read was a happy birthday wish to a great young man, Jerrinson Reed. I saw it after your passing yesterday and I smiled because you always took the time to remember all of us. I will never forget you Todd. God bless your beautiful daughters and grandchildren. Rest in Peace.
Todd’s kindness, humor, and generosity touched everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. His legacy will live on in the hearts of those he coached, taught, and loved.
