The former NFL player turned baseball player, Golden Tate, grew up as the eldest sibling in the family with one brother & twin sisters.

The American baseball player Golden Herman Tate III, publicly known as Golden Tate, is currently a center fielder for the Port Angeles Lefties.

Golden was a three-sport athlete in high school, playing football, baseball, and track and field.

Golden Tate, A Former Football Player & Currently A Baseball Player

The Arizona Diamondbacks drafted him in the 2007 amateur draft, but he opted to play baseball for the University of Notre Dame.

Later on, the San Francisco Giants drafted him in the 2010 MLB draft but once again did not sign with the team as he signed for the Seattle Seahawks of the NFL.

The 37 year old decided to join the Port Angeles Lefties in June 2026 to finally pursue his baseball career after more than ten years of a football career.

Golden Tate Brother: Wesley Tate

The former football player has three siblings; one brother Wesley Tate, and two sisters; and Deanna Tate.

Wesley (born: December 3, 1990) was a former football player who played as a running back for Vanderbilt University.

However, he did not pursue professional football like his brother but rather involved himself in business development and account career.

Wesley has been currently working in the business development section for MakeMine Inc since May 2026.

Additionally, he is a member board of Pope John Paul II High School trustees.

Born to Yolanda & Golden Tate Jr, both Wesley and Golden were athletic from a young age.

Additionally, like their brothers, the Tate twin sisters are also great athletes.

Golden’s younger sister, Breanna (born: April 4, 1995), is a former athlete specializing in indoor and outdoor sprints.

She competed in 100m, 200m, 4*100 relay, and 4*400 relay for the University of Mississippi.

Breanna was in a four-year relationship with the Miami Dolphins cornerback Jalen Ramsey before the pair broke up in 2019.

From the relationship, the couple welcomed named Brooklyn and Breelyn.

On the other hand, Deanna is also a sprinter, has competed in races like the 4*400 relay, and has a personal best of 54.74 in the 400m.

Moreover, her record is ranked and 15th in the SEC Championships.

Football Career

Talking about his football career, the Seattle Superhawks drafted Tate in the 2010 NFL draft.

He made his NFL debut on September 19, 2010, against the Denver Broncos.

During his time with the Superhawks, he won the Super Bowl XLVIII in 2013 with 64 receptions for 898 yards in the regular season.

On March 12, 2014, he signed a five-year contract worth $31 million with the Detroit Lions.

During his five years with the Lions, he played in 71 games, completing 22 receiving touchdowns with 416 receptions for 4741 yards.

Later, in 2018, the Lions traded him to the Philadelphia Eagles, where he had a brief stint playing in 19 games with 30 receptions for 278 yards.

On March 14, 2019, the wide receiver joined the New York Giants. However, he was suspended for the first four games for violating the NFL policy on performance-enhancing substances.

After liking a tweet that suggested Giants should cut ties with him, he was benched the following game and eventually got released on March 4, 2026.

Throughout his tenure with the Giants, he played in 23 games, starting 14 of them with 84 receptions and 1064 yards.
