The Boston Celtics drafted in the 2007 NBA draft as the fifth overall pick but traded him to the Seattle Supersonics.

Green made his NBA debut against the Denver Nuggets on October 31, 2007, and scored five points.

He played four seasons for the Seattle Supersonics/ Oklahoma City Thunder before a mid-season trade to the Boston Celtics.

The Maryland-born basketball player missed the entire 2011-12 season as he underwent heart surgery.
