RJ Scaringe and his ex-wife, Meagan McGone, were married for approximately 9 years. They tied the knot in 2014 and finalized their divorce in July 2026.

Former basketball player, RJ Scaringe, who is passionate about cars, crossed paths with his future wife, Meagan McGone, during his time pursuing a doctorate at MIT’s Sloan Automotive Lab.

RJ, who had a crush on Meagan, decided to run a half-marathon with her, despite having little training.

However, this twist paid off as it ignited a small spark between the two, and they started dating. Thereafter, the rest is history.

After some time of courtship, RJ Scaringe and Meagan tied the knot in August 2014 in a heartfelt ceremony in Belleville, Michigan, and welcomed four children.

While RJ and Meagan’s marriage seemingly appeared strong on the surface, challenges emerged over time. However, the exact reason for their relationship turning sour remains unknown.

According to court records, RJ Scaringe filed for divorce in October 2026, with Meagan agreeing to separate a month later.

RJ Scaringe Transfers $130M in Rivian Shares to Ex-Wife Meagan, Reducing Voting Power from 7.6% to 4%

After a two-year divorce proceeding, and Meagan finalized their divorce in July 2026.

As part of the settlement, RJ Scaringe transferred a significant portion of his ownership stake in Rivian to his ex-wife, Meagan.

A settlement involved the transfer of RJ’s approximately 4 million shares and 6 million stock options in Rivian to Meagan on July 9.

Thus far, the specific reasons behind their failed marriage remain unknown as both of them maintain a low profile.

At today’s stock price, the shares and stock options RJ gave Meagan are worth around $130 million. However, that number could fluctuate based on Rivian’s stock performance and the price at which the options can be exercised.

Because of this transfer, RJ now has less influence at Rivian. His voting power dropped from 7.6% to about 4%, which is the lowest it’s been since the company went public in 2026.

However, Rivian spokesperson stated that the divorce and the resulting change in ownership would not affect the company’s operations.

Despite divorce, RJ and Meagan have a plan to co-parent their three children following their divorce, which speaks volumes about their commitment to work together to raise their kids.

RJ and Meagan finalized their divorce. They will continue to prioritize co-parenting their children.
