On the evening of June 30, 2026, 19-year-old Ronnie Singleton III tragically lost his life while trying to retrieve a basketball from a pond at Wendtwoods Park in The Woodlands, Texas.
He was playing basketball with his younger brother, friends, and coworkers when the ball rolled into the pond.
Ronnie went in to get it but couldn’t swim and went under. , and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Ronnie Singleton III’s basketball journey reflected his deep love for the game and his commitment to teamwork and growth.
He played competitively throughout high school and beyond, leaving a strong impression on those around him.
Recently, he graduated from Klein High School, where he played in the band and was an active member of the club basketball team.
Moreover, he played for two club teams, the Houston Knights and CME Elite.
Beyond high school, Ronnie was continuing his education while working five days a week.
He attended school two days a week and stayed committed to his basketball training. Additionally, he worked as an assistant manager at Shoe Palace.
He was also just one class away from earning his real estate license when his life took a tragic turn.
His mother, Rachelle Singleton, described him as the center of their family, saying:
He was the nucleus of our family. He kept us together, was very driven and passionate.
His former coach, Nyesha Phillips, remembered him for his bright smile, saying:
I coached Ronnie from his freshman year to his junior year in high school. He played on my club team, Houston Knights, always a team player, always encouraging his teammates, always working hard. He had a bright smile
The Klein ISD community joined his family in mourning the heartbreaking loss of a young man full of promise.
