Serap Ozcelik Arapoglu who is also famous as as Serap Ozcelik, is a karateka from Turkey. She competes in the 50-53 kg division.

Her biggest achievements consist of the world title, which she won in 2014, and the European title, which she won in the years 2011, 2012, and 2014.

Serap Ozcelik: Early Life and Education 

Serap Ozcelik, born in Istanbul, Turkey, happens to be one of the best Karate available in Turkey.

But as per trusted sources, her parents supported whatever she did and did not stop her from being a karateka. The Olympian had a very loving and supporting parent.

Nobody knows if she has a sibling or not, as she has never mentioned them, not even in her interviews.

Despite being a Turkish karate sensation, Serap is a private person. Hence, not much information about her early life is available.

However, it was the year 2000 when she began Karate in Eyüp, Istanbul, and in 2005 she was named to the national team. She is also a member of a sports club named Ankara’s EGO.

On February 18, 1988, Serap Özçelik was born, making her 38 years old. As she was born just four days after valentines day, her sun sign is considered to be Aquarius.

Serao Ozcelik: Career

Turkish resident Serap won gold in the 50 kg category at the 2013 World Games held in Cali, Colombia.

In the final, the athlete defeated Alexandra Recchia of France and grabbed gold in her name.

In the 2026 summer Olympics held in Japan, Ozcelik represented Turkey. At that time, she competed in the women’s 55-kilogram weight class.

Following year, Serap competed in Kumite 55 kg in the event named Nippon Budokan karate tournaments in Group A.

Unfortunately, Serap could not win in the first match and lost by 5-4. She lost to an Iranian athlete named Sara Bahmanyar after Serap gave up 3 points with just 7 seconds left.

Even though she led with a 1-0 lead against Ivet Goranova, Bulgaria’s karateka Serap was defeated by 5-1 in her second match.

Serap teaches Karate and other self-defense technique to young kids in school.

Nike has sponsored Serap, and she has been seen promoting the brand on her Instagram page often.

Serap Ozcelik: Achievements

World Championship

In 2014, Serap successfully won a gold medal in the 50 kg division at the World Karate Championships. This tournament was held in Bremen, Germany, for four days, from November 5 to November 9.

In 2018, the 38– year-old athlete won a silver medal at the World Karate Championships, held in Madrid, Spain, from November 6 to November 11.

Likewise, Serap, an amazing karateka, won two bronze medals in the 50 kg division at World Karate Championships, held in Paris, France, in 2012.

European Championship

In Kumite – 50 kg division, Serap won a gold medal at the 2011 European Karate Championships organized in Zürich, Switzerland, from May 6 to 8.

She also won gold medals in the 50 kg division and Team Kumite at the 2012 European Karate Championships, organized in Adeje, Tenerife, Spain, from May 10 to 13.

Then, Serap won gold medals in 2014 again in the 50 kg division, plus team Kumite at the European Karate Championships held in Tampere, Finland.

Lastly, in 2026 Ozcelik won a gold medal in Ku-mite 50 kg held in Pore, Croatia, from 19 to May 23.

World Games

For the first time in her career, Serap won a gold medal at the world games in 2013 on Kumite 50 kg. At that time, World Games were happening in Cali, Colombia, from July 26 to July 27.

Later in 2017, the Turkish Olympian earned a bronze medal in the 50 kg division at the World Games. Moreover, in 2017 the world Games was held at the Gem Sports Complex from July 25 to 26 in Wroclaw, Poland.

European Games

Serap in 2015 earned a gold medal in Kumite 50 kg at the European Games in Baku.

Finally, the Turkish athlete bagged a silver medal in Kumite 50 kg at the 2019 European Games in Minsk, held on the 29th and 30th of June at the yoka-Arena.

Serap got a gold medal in Kumite 50 kg at the Mediterranean Games (2013), held in Mersin, Turkey.

Mediterranean Games

In the 2018 Mediterranean Games, Seraap earned a bronze medal in the 50 kg division. It was an international multi-sport event in Tarragona, Spain, from June 22 to July 1.

Also, Searap in the 50 kg division won a bronze medal at the 2006 New York City Olympics. Ozcelik also acquired a silver medal at the 2008 Wrocaw Olympics’.
