On Friday, Shenandoah University Athletics announced the death of former football cornerback/safety Keyshawn Wilder.

Keyshawn Wilder was a for Shenandoah University, where he built a decorated career as one of the top defensive players in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference.

A Baltimore native and kinesiology major, Wilder developed into a consistent playmaker in the Hornets’ secondary, earning back-to-back First Team All-ODAC and VaSID All-State honors in 2026 and 2026.

His ability to impact games with his coverage skills and ball-hawking instincts was highlighted in 2026 when he tied both the ODAC and Shenandoah records with four interceptions in a single match against Averett.

Over his career, he recorded 142 tackles, 15 passes defended, and forced turnovers that shifted momentum for his team.

At 6’0” and 190 pounds, Wilder combined size, speed, and physicality to lock down receivers and set the tone in the defensive backfield.

His performances earned recognition from D3football.com, including multiple All-Region selections and spots on the national Team of the Week.

Shenandoah University cornerback Keyshawn Wilder passed away in August 2026. The cause of death has not been revealed.

On Friday, August 15, 2026, Shenandoah University announced the tragic news.

Madison Hoilman, who works at Shenandoah University, took to her handle and mourned the loss of Keyshawn.

Crenese Jang-Jang Parker, a graduate of Coppin State University, also took to Facebook and offered heartfelt condolences.

I’m absolutely heartbroken for my son and his teammates. They were brothers and the bond those guys shared was unmatched! Prayers for my son Quant’e, Keyshawn’s family, Shenandoah’s Football team and the whole Shenandoah University community

Tom Abel III also offered his heartfelt condolences and sent prayers to family.

Other close ones and relatives have also poured their heartfelt condolences and sent prayers to Keyshawn’s family to stay strong in this heartbreaking moment.

He will always be remembered for his unforgettable contributions as a standout cornerback at Shenandoah University.
