    Alena Kostornaia is a Russian figure skater who has won the ‘Gold’ medal at the 2026 European Figure Skating Championships, the Grand Prix of Figure Skating Final in the 2019-20 season, the 2019 GP Internationaux de France event, the 2019 GP NHK Trophy, and the 2019 CS Finlandia Trophy; all in her debut season at the senior level. She had also won the ‘Silver’ medal (2026) and the ‘Bronze’ medal (2018, 2019) at the Russian Figure Skating Championships. At the junior level, she had made waves by winning the ‘Gold’ medal at the ISU Junior Grand Prix (JGP) Final in the 2018-19 season, the 2018 ISU JGP Austria, the 2018 ISU JGP Czech Republic, and the 2017 ISU JGP Poland. She had also won the ‘Silver’ medal at the 2018 World Junior Figure Skating Championships, the ISU Junior Grand Prix Final in the 2017-18 season, the Russian Junior Figure Skating Championships (2017-18, 2018-19), and the 2017 ISU JGP Italy. At the end of the 2019-20 season, she had been ranked number 6 in the world in the official ladies’ singles rankings issued by the International Skating Union (ISU).

    1. Although her birth name is Aliona, which she also uses in her day-to-day personal life, she has been registered as ‘Alena’ with the International Skating Union (ISU). All her official statistics have, hence, been recorded with that name.
    2. In 2019, she became just the 3rd female figure skater, after and , to successfully land the maximum number of triple jumps allowed in one senior international tournament. She had achieved the feat at the 2019 GP Internationaux de France event where she had recorded 4 triple jumps in the short program and 8 in the long program. She had also landed all 12 of her triple jumps cleanly at the Grand Prix of Figure Skating Final in the 2019-20 season.
    3. As of August 2026, she had held the senior ladies’ world record for both the short program (85.45 points) as well as the total score (247.59 points). She had set both records at the same event – Grand Prix of Figure Skating Final in the 2019-20 season. As of August 2026, she had also held the junior ladies’ world record in the short program (76.32 points) which was set at the ISU Junior Grand Prix (JGP) Final in the 2018-19 season.
    4. Her world record of 132.42 points in the free skate program at the junior level that was set at the 2018 JGP Austria, was later broken by compatriot at the 2018 JGP Lithuania event.
    5. She had stated in an interview that she had intended to retire from the sport after the end of the 2026 Winter Olympics to attend medical school and achieve her dream of becoming a neurosurgeon.
