    Andy Ruiz Jr. is an American-Mexican professional boxer who had become the unified heavyweight champion in 2019 by defeating British professional boxer . Through this feat, he had unified the WBA (World Boxing Association) (Super), the IBF (International Boxing Federation), the WBO (World Boxing Organization), and the IBO (International Boxing Organization) titles. He had thus become the first male boxer of Mexican heritage to become a world heavyweight champion.     1. Andy was passionate about baseball as a child but his father, realizing that Andy weighed much more than other kids his age, had persuaded him to train as a boxer from the age of 7.
    2. His grandfather used to run a boxing gym in Mexicali, the capital city of the Mexican state of Baja California. Mexican actor, circus performer, and former professional boxer Jorge Páez, who had held the WBO and the IBF featherweight titles, used to train there.
    3. In his youth, Andy used to support his father in his construction business before deciding to pursue boxing as a serious full-time career. He had started his amateur boxing career in Mexico. His family had nicknamed him ‘Destroyer’ because he used to break all his toys as a child.
    4. During his amateur career, he had amassed a 105–5 win-loss record. During this phase, he used to represent Mexico and had won 2 ‘Gold’ medals at the National Junior Olympics. He had also clinched a title at the Ringside World Championships. He had competed in 2 qualification tournaments for the 2008 Beijing Summer Olympics but had lost out in both those tournaments.
    5. In December 2019, 6 months after Andy had defeated Anthony Joshua to win the unified heavyweight championship, Anthony had hammered him by a score of 118–110, 118–110, and 119–109 to regain those titles. Andy had admitted that he was not sincere enough in his preparation for the re-match.
