    Arthur Smith studied at Georgetown Preparatory School (also known as Georgetown Prep), a Jesuit college-preparatory school for boys located in North Bethesda, Maryland. During his time there, he played on the offensive line and was team captain. In addition to that, he also spent some time as a defensive tackle. He also participated in track, lacrosse, and basketball.

    After that, he attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, a public research university located in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. He played as a guard for the university’s football team from 2001 to 2005. He subsequently graduated from university in 2006.

    1. During his high school career, Smith was a first-team all-state selection at offensive line, two-time all-conference, and first-team All-Metro by The Washington Post.
    2. In 2001, he was a redshirt freshman.
    3. For the 2002 season, Arthur Smith played only in one game as he was diagnosed with a foot problem and was unable to play the remainder of the season.
    4. In January 2003, he underwent foot surgery and missed the entire 2003 season. Then, both in 2004 and 2005, he saw little action.
    5. He became a graduate assistant for North Carolina after graduating from university in 2006.
    6. In the year 2007, Arthur Smith embarked on his NFL coaching career when he was appointed as the defensive quality control coach for the Washington Redskins.
    7. He was appointed as a defensive intern and administrative assistant for Ole Miss in 2010.
    8. In 2011, he was hired to become the defensive quality control coach for the Tennessee Titans under new head coach Mike Munchak.
    9. Replacing coach Matt LaFleur (who departed from the Tennessee Titans to become head coach of the Green Bay Packers), Arthur Smith was promoted to offensive coordinator for the team on January 21, 2019.
