Crispin Glover is an American actor, director, writer, producer, editor, music supervisor, musician, and author who is widely recognized for essaying eccentric characters on screen, including his breakout role as George McFly in the international box office success Back to the Future (1985), The Knave of Hearts in the live-action/animated dark fantasy adventure film Alice in Wonderland (2010), and Mr. World in the Starz fantasy drama TV series American Gods (2017–2026). - He was named after the Saint Crispin’s Day speech from the play Henry V written by William Shakespeare, that his parents had cherished. His middle name “Hellion” had been used earlier on as a fake middle name by his father, who had despised his own real Germanic middle name.
- Glover had kickstarted his acting career when he was 13 years old.
- It was Crispin’s idea for the Thin Man in the film Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle (2003) to be mute. After he had read the screenplay and the producers had asked him what his thoughts were, he had told them about his belief that his character would be best played without dialogue. The director had become very enthusiastic and agreed.
- Crispin has disclosed that in filmmaking, his most-loved part is the editing as that is where the final art of what the film is, gets made. He has likened editing with the cleaning up of the stage where the beauty emerges.
