    Daria Snigur Facts

    1. Daria, born in Kyiv, Ukraine, has lived for a fair while in Warsaw, Poland. She has also trained in Riga, Latvia.
    2. In 2017, she signed a contract with the International Tennis Academy (ITA), a world-class developmental tennis program that funds training and away tournaments for young tennis players who are yet to reach the age of 18.
    3. At the youth tier, Daria reached a peak world ranking of number 2 (in October 2019) after reaching the final of the ITF Junior Finals. She had also clinched the 2019 Wimbledon Championships title in the girls’ singles event. This had made her just the 2nd Ukrainian junior champion at Wimbledon after Kateryna Volodko.
    4. She first participated in the qualifying round of a senior Grand Slam event at the 2026 French Open but lost out in the first round. She met the same fate in the 2026 and the 2026 editions of the French Open as well. In 2026, she reached the second round of qualifying at the Australian Open as well as the Wimbledon Championships but lost out on both those occasions.
    5. After the aforementioned 5 failed attempts, Daria made her main-draw debut at a Grand Slam (Australian Open/ French Open/ Wimbledon Championships/ US Open) tournament at the 2026 US Open. In the first round, she upset 2-time Grand Slam winner and former world number 1 .
    6. Simona was rankled world number 7 at that time and this was Daria’s first win over a player ranked in the ‘Top 10’ of the official WTA singles rankings. Not just that, this 6–2, 0–6, 6–4 win was Daria’s first career win on the WTA Tour. In the 2nd round, her fairytale story came crashing down as she made as many as 48 unforced errors and lost to in straight sets.
    7. She has been coached for the longest time by Larisa Savchenko-Neiland, a former tennis player who had represented the Soviet Union, Ukraine, and Latvia. She is a former world number 1 in the doubles format who had won 2 Grand Slam women’s doubles and 4 Grand Slam mixed doubles titles.
