- He used to be known as Donghyuck but later changed his name to Haechan.
- Haechan got into the pre-debut training group SM Rookies through the SM Global Auditions for which his mother encouraged him.
- He was introduced as a member of SM Rookies on July 17, 2014.
- On July 1, 2016, he became the member of NCT‘s 2nd subunit called the NCT 127.
- He was later included in the band’s 3rd subunit, NCT Dream on August 18, 2016.
- He said in an interview with MTV that he is the worst arm wrestler of the group.
- His favorite pastime hobby is computer gaming but he claims that he is very bad at it. He also loves to play football.
- Haechan is often called Donkey by other band members as he looks like a monkey and his name is Dong-hyuck.
- In December 2018, he fractured his shin bone while preparing for the Neo City – The Origin tour and later went on a hiatus from group activities in order to recover. He returned from his hiatus in March 2019.
