- Pamela Mason (1941-1962) – He married actor Pamela Mason (née Ostrer) in 1941 and they were blessed with 2 children – a daughter named Portland Mason Schuyler (1948–2004) and a son named Alexander Morgan Mason (b. June 26, 1955). It was reported that Pamela was frequently unfaithful to her husband. However, it was Pamela who initiated divorce proceedings against James in 1962 for lack of support and claimed adultery on his part with three Jane Does. It resulted in a $1m divorce settlement.
