    1. His father was a farmer who returned to school when Shipp was young and after attending the seminary in Wake Forest, he became the pastor of a small church outside Wake Forest, North Carolina.
    2. John Wesley Shipp gave a keynote speech to the graduating class of Wake Forest Rolesville High School Class of 1999 and recounted the tale of his father’s attempts to integrate the community in the late 1960s.
    3. From 1985 to 1986, John Wesley Shipp appeared as Doug Cummings, an obsessive fan of Kim Sullivan Hughes, in the television soap opera As the World Turns (often abbreviated as ATWT). For this role, he received the 1986 Daytime Emmy Award for “Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series”.
    4. Shipp was cast in the recurring role of Martin Ellis in Santa Barbara in 1986 and this performance won him the Daytime Emmy Award for “Outstanding Guest Star in a Drama Series” in 1987.
    5. He made his first theatrical film appearance as Barney Bux, Bastian’s father, in the 1990 German-American fantasy film, The NeverEnding Story II: The Next Chapter, which is a sequel to The NeverEnding Story.
    6. John Wesley Shipp played Bennie Lee Fudge in the 2012 drama film, Hell and Mr. Fudge, based on a true story.
