- A majority of his childhood was spent growing up in Darwin in the Northern Territory.
- In 2009, it was announced that Kane Richardson would be a part of Australia’s under-19 squad for their tour of India ahead of the 2010 Under-19 Cricket World Cup.
- He was bought by the Pune Warriors in the 2013 IPL player’s auction for $700,000, the 3rd-highest price of any player that season. He had only played 6 first-class matches to that point.
