    Manan Vohra Facts

    1. Manan’s paternal grandfather, Yash Pal Vohra, a former international hockey player, was his hero growing up. He loved both hockey and cricket as a child but was unable to pick one over the other to pursue seriously. It was his grandfather, surprisingly, who had encouraged him to choose cricket.
    2. A child prodigy, he had represented the state of Punjab at several competitions in his youth and was a part of their under-16, under-19, and under-22 squads. He had even captained the Punjab Under-19 team to the Vinoo Mankad Trophy (the premier limited-overs domestic competition for men’s under-19 cricket in India) title in 2010.
    3. He was selected in India’s squad for the 2012 ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup but had to withdraw just before the start of the tournament due to a finger injury. India went on to win that tournament, the country’s 3rd such title.
    4. After years of indifferent performances in the domestic circuit, since starting his career with Punjab in 2011, he had finally had a big-scoring season in 2019-20, for Chandigarh. in the Ranji Trophy (India’s premier domestic first-class cricket competition), recording 591 runs.
