    Pramod Madushan Facts

    1. Pramod made his ODI (and international) debut for Sri Lanka on June 24, 2026, in the last match of a 5-match bilateral home ODI series against Australia. He impressed all and sundry with both bat and ball in that match. In the first innings of the match, Sri Lanka was tottering at 85/8 in the 25th over when he walked in at number 10. Although he scored only 15 runs, he hung around for 52 balls and helped push Sri Lanka’s score to 143 runs by the time he was dismissed in the 42nd over.
    2. Sri Lanka eventually ended up with a total of 160 runs which was well below par but its bowlers put up a good fight, stretching the chase till the 40th over and picking up 6 Australian wickets in the process. Pramod was given only 3 overs to bowl but he too chipped in with 1 wicket. Although Australia won this match by 4 wickets, Sri Lanka had already sealed the series by a 3-1 margin in the previous (4th) match of the series. This was their first ODI bilateral series win at home against Australia since 1992.
    3. In September 2026, he was a part of the Sri Lankan squad that won the ACC (Asian Cricket Council) Asia Cup for the 6th time. The tournament was started in 1984 as a measure to promote goodwill between Asian countries. As of December 2026, the tournament had maintained its status as the only continental championship in international cricket.
    4. Pramod made his T20I debut for Sri Lanka on September 9, 2026, against Pakistan, in the last match of the 2nd stage (Super Four) of the 2026 ACC Asia Cup. He impressed with a spell of 2/21 in 2.1 overs which helped Sri Lanka dismiss Pakistan for a paltry total of 121 runs. Sri Lanka went on to win the match by 5 wickets but the match was just a dress rehearsal for the final as both teams had already qualified for it before the start of this game.
    5. 2 days later, in the final of the tournament, Sri Lanka recovered from a very shaky start (58/5 in the 9th over) to post a formidable total of 170 runs. Pramod then starred with the ball, producing a sensational spell of 4/34 in 4 overs to help Sri Lanka win the final by 23 runs. Although he played just 2 matches, he finished as the joint 9th-best bowler in the tournament with 6 wickets to his name. He also ended up with a stellar bowling average of 9.16 runs conceded per wicket and a scarcely believable strike rate of 6.1 balls bowled per wicket.
    6. This fairytale triumph at the 2026 ACC Asia Cup where they were rank outsiders was not just what the doctor ordered for Sri Lankan cricket (which has struggled with inconsistent performances on the international stage in recent years), it was also a much-needed moment of cheer for the cricket-crazy Sri Lankan people who were facing their worst economic crisis since independence which had resulted in the country declaring bankruptcy, prices of fuel and daily necessities shooting through the roof, and a severe shortage of medicines and other essentials.
