- Prior to finding his passion for cricket, Ross played hockey. It is said that the sport of hockey helped him master his powerful slog-sweep shot. This also happens to be one of the reasons why he is known as “king of the leg side shots.”
- According to sources, his birth name is often written only as Ross Luteru Taylor as he had mistakenly written the names Ross and Luteru which he was often called while playing cricket on the questionnaire form for the official New Zealand Cricket records.
