    Sakibul Gani Facts

    1. He had made his List A debut for Bihar in October 2019 during the 2019–20 season of the Vijay Hazare Trophy (India’s premier domestic 50-overs cricket competition). He had made his T20 debut for Bihar in January 2026 during the 2026–21 season of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (India’s premier domestic 20-overs cricket competition).
    2. Sakibul had first come into the spotlight on the Indian domestic scene in February 2026 when he had smashed 341 runs against Mizoram in a ‘Plate Group’ match of the Ranji Trophy (India’s premier domestic first-class cricket competition).
    3. His team was in a shaky position (71/3) when he had come into bat in the first innings. By the time he was dismissed, he had taken Bihar’s score to a mammoth 609 runs. He had taken only 405 balls to compile his Himalayan knock (at an excellent strike rate of 84.19) and had also struck 56 fours and 2 sixes. He was also involved in a humongous 538-run partnership for the 5th wicket with Babul Kumar who had scored 229 runs. The 4-day match had eventually petered out into a draw despite Bihar enforcing the follow-on.
    4. Sakibul was named the ‘Player of the Match’ for his heroics. This match was also his first-class debut and he had become the first cricketer ever to have scored a triple century on his/her first-class debut. The previous record for the highest score on a first-class debut had also belonged to an Indian cricketer. Ajay Rohera had scored 267 runs not out in December 2018 for Madhya Pradesh against Hyderabad. Ajay, in turn, had broken the record of Indian domestic cricket giant Amol Muzumdar who had scored 260 runs, on first-class debut, for Mumbai (then Bombay) against Haryana in the 1993–94 season.
    5. In an interview, he had revealed that upon hearing of his selection in Bihar’s Ranji Trophy squad, his mother had mortgaged a gold chain of hers so that she could buy 3 new cricket bats for him. She had then performed a ritual on those bats to ward off the evil eye. It was one of these bats with which Sakibul had compiled his world-record knock of 341 runs. He had also stated that the first thing he would do upon returning home would be pay off the dues on that gold chain.
    6. In his next 2 innings, he had scored 98 runs and 101 runs not out which meant that he had aggregated 540 runs in his first 3 first-class innings, another all-time record.
