    Tems is a Nigerian singer, songwriter, and record producer who has released the EPs titled For Broken Ears (September 2026) and If Orange Was a Place (September 2026). She also published a few non-album singles before releasing these EPs. She first came into the spotlight in October 2026 when she was featured on fellow Nigerian singer ‘s single titled Essence. After the release of a remixed version, with an additional feature from , the song became her first career entry on the Billboard Hot 100 (the music industry standard record chart in the United States for songs, published weekly by Billboard magazine), at number 9. In 2026, her vocals from a song titled Higher were sampled by American rapper, singer, and songwriter on his single titled Wait for U. This meant that she was credited as a featured artist on the song which went on to debut atop the Billboard Hot 100. This made Tems the 1st African artist to debut at number 1 and just the 2nd Nigerian artist to top this chart.

    Tems Facts

    1. Born in Lagos, Nigeria, Tems and her family moved to the United Kingdom soon after her birth. Her parents got divorced when she was about 5 years old after which she, her mother, and her brother, returned to Nigeria.
    2. They first lived in Ilupeju, a neighborhood in Lagos, before moving to Lekki, a city in Lagos State. They eventually settled down in Ajah, a town in Lagos State.
    3. During her school days, Tems used to practice singing with her brother. She would often use his guitar and later learned to play the piano as well.
    4. In 2018, she quit her job to pursue a career in the music industry. She utilized YouTube to learn music production and released her self-produced debut single titled Mr Rebel in July 2018.
    5. In November 2026, she was included in the ‘Class of 2026’ by The Future Awards Africa, presented by The Future Project, a social enterprise communications firm affiliated with Red Africa, a media company headquartered in Lagos, Nigeria.
    6. In December 2026, Tems and fellow Nigerian singer Omah Lay were arrested after performing at a show in Uganda, on account of an alleged violation of COVID-19 lockdown protocols. The artists protested, alleging that they had been set up. About 2 days later, the Ugandan government issued an apology, dropped the charges, and released them.
    7. She covered ‘s 1974 hit reggae song titled No Woman, No Cry for the soundtrack (released in July 2026) of the Marvel superhero movie titled Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.
