    Tim Anderson Facts

    1. Prior to his birth, his father was arrested on drug charges and served the first 15 years of Tim Jr.’s life in prison.
    2. He grew up under the care of his aunt and uncle along with their three children because his own mother was unable to provide for Anderson as she was already taking care of her 4 other children.
    3. Growing up, his grandfather frequently used to take him to visit his father so that the duo could have a relationship.
    4. During his younger years, he used to play little league baseball but then stopped playing it up until his junior year of high school.
    5. When in high school, Tim Anderson batted .333 as a left fielder as a junior and batted .420 as an infielder in his senior year. As a senior, he was also a part of the team that won the state basketball championship.
    6. He eventually realized that he was likely too short to play professional basketball, standing at 6 ft 1 in (1.85 m).
    7. During his freshman season, he batted .360 with four home runs, 37 runs batted in (RBIs), and 30 stolen bases without being caught stealing. Despite that, he was unable to attract interest from Major League Baseball (MLB) teams and was not selected in the 2012 MLB draft.
    8. He had a breakout season as a sophomore at East Central Community College and went on to lead all junior college baseball players with a .495 batting average. Subsequently, he was named a first-team National Junior College Athletic Association Division II All-American.
    9. In the 2013 MLB draft, Tim Anderson was selected by the Chicago White Sox in the first round as the 17th overall selection.
    10. Although he had committed to transfer to the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB), he decided against it and signed with the Chicago White Sox for a signing bonus of $2,164,000.
    11. He made his MLB debut on June 10, 2016, with the Chicago White Sox hitting a double off of Ian Kennedy of the Kansas City Royals in his first at-bat.
    12. Tim Anderson batted .322/.357/.529 with 45 runs (tied for the AL lead), ten home runs, and 21 RBIs in 49 games with the 2026 Chicago White Sox as well as won a Silver Slugger Award that season.
    13. He represented Team USA in the World Baseball Classic in 2026.
    14. In August 2026, he was involved in a bench-clearing brawl with of the Cleveland Guardians.
    15. Tim Anderson has called Chicago his “adopted hometown” and has done charity work around the south and west sides of Chicago.
