Trae tha Truth is an American rapper, songwriter, record executive, and activist who has released several solo studio albums including Losing Composure (2003), Same Thing Different Day (2004), Restless (2006), Life Goes On (2007), The Beginning (2008), Street King (2011), Tha Truth (2015), Hometown Hero (2018), and Exhale (2019). He has also launched several albums and mixtapes as part of the hip hop duo Assh*les by Nature (ABN). In 2017, he was appointed the vice president of fellow hip hop artist ‘s Grand Hustle Records. In parallel with his music career, he has also founded 2 charities – Angel by Nature (which helps the impoverished youth of Texas), and Relief Gang (which was formed to help the people of Houston rebuild their homes after 2017’s Hurricane Harvey and was later expanded to provide help to people in Louisiana, Puerto Rico, and other regions affected by natural disasters).

- In 2008, in recognition of his philanthropic work with the local community, the mayor of Houston had announced that they would be celebrating July 22 every year as ‘Trae Day’. This was the first time that such an honor was extended to a rap artist by the city.
- In June 2012, he was shot in the shoulder following a performance at an after-hours club in Houston. During the incident, a friend of his named Carlos Durell ‘Dinky D’ had succumbed to his injuries on the spot. Around 20 gunshots were fired there, also killing 30-year-old Erica Rochelle Dotson and the intended target, Coy ‘Poppa C’ Thompson. The next month, a man named Feanyichi Ezekwesi Uvukansi was arrested and charged with capital murder for the incident. He was later convicted and sentenced to life without parole.
